METS Accelerators

Initially funded by the Queensland Government, and delivered through the METS Ignited Industry Growth Centre, the 4 years joint planning and strategy development outlined a collaborative program focus on sector growth leading to exports and diversification.

The initial commercial pilot program involved 8 companies, 5 regional SMEs and comprised a mix of mining and oil & gas solution providers, ranging from software companies through to engineering plant and equipment. The companies involved represented SMEs at late stages of product development / early commercialisation – (start ups fall under a separate program of work). The initial 12 week program was delivered by KPMG, and focused on value propositions, pitching, capability development and communications – culminated at IMARC in Melbourne.

The success of the program was enormous with $12 million+ contracts / external capital investment directly attributed from the program, including additional hiring and ramping up of participant organisations.

From this initial pilot – the program was run in 5 different regional centres, with over 40 SME METS Companies in attendance and almost 100 people participating.

Current Program

The next phase of the Accelerator Program is the Scale Up and Take Off stream – where the program will further expand into areas of Investment Education – Managing through cycles – Dealing with Growth and Skill and Resourcing for the Future.

The next phase of the program will be expanded to reach nationally, with METS Ignited delivering the program in Queensland, and NERA (The National Energy Resource Association) delivering the program in Western Australia.

More information about this, and other programs will be available shortly on the announcement of the new work program due late 2019
