Queensland mining companies now have the opportunity to tap into collaborative innovation to maximise value and broaden the future uses of mining-impacted land.

The state’s over 1200 abandoned mine sites demonstrate the current challenges with successful mine closure, but also present a great opportunity for the future.

enviroMETS (Qld) Limited (enviroMETS), born from a 2018 cluster initiative facilitated through a collaborative partnership between METS Ignited and the Queensland Government, has now become an independent, industry-led, not-for-profit company to capitalise on this opportunity.

enviroMETS’ mission is to devise innovative and sustainable repurposing, re-commercialising and remediation solutions to ensure the land is most valuable and usable to future custodians and to provide a conduit of innovative industry led solutions to government and mining companies.

enviroMETS will respond to the diverse range of challenges by adopting a successful collaborative approach to improve outcomes of mine-affected land for industry, communities, and the environment.
