Project description and overview

Material Characterisation at the Time of Blast Hole Drilling for Optimised Blasting and Material Tracking – This project is to develop a product for “Instrumenting the Bench”.  Material physical property measurements are provided at the time of blasthole drilling to inform decisions regarding blasting, screening and stockpiling, among others, before these materials are subject to processing.  These properties form the inputs to a tactical approach to ore characterisation and processing.

Benefits accrue in optimising the blast design in terms of fragmentation, heave and cost and the categorisation into ore types, mineralised waste and waste.  A high level of collaboration is required to deliver a complete product and is a feature of this application with world leaders in drilling, down-hole surveying and blasting products combining.
